In honor of World Book Day (April 23), the Ministry of Culture and Sports, together with the popular TikTok platform, is launching the #kitaptok project, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the campaign, inspired by the global challenge of the #BookTok, which has collected more than 123 billion views, is to encourage Kazakhstanis to read, share book recommendations and discover new literature.
Using the hashtag #kitaptok, you can shoot various videos on the topic of literature and reading: book reviews and recommendations, unpacking, excerpts from your favorite works, personal stories related to reading and literature, and even videos on how to make a bookshelf or equip a space for books. The authors of the three best videos will receive valuable prizes.
Content creators popular on TikTok and a number of libraries in Kazakhstan are already participating in the project. For example, the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Pavlodar Regional Universal Scientific Library named after S. Toraigyrov and the Karaganda Regional Universal Scientific Library.
"Such projects not only help people learn about new books and talk about their literary preferences, they can also help modern Russian writers find new readers and increase interest in visiting libraries. We hope for the active participation of Kazakhstani TikTok users in #kitaptok," said Moldir Abdualieva, an official representative of the Ministry of Culture and Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
