Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek held a meeting with the Maria Shipuleva, the Country Director of AstraZeneca in Kazakhstan and Deputy Director Zhalgas Daniyarov, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the department
The meeting discussed the cooperation between the ministry and the company aimed at developing the system of higher education and science in the country.
According to the Minister of Science and Higher Education said that Kazakhstan sets an ambitious task to establish an academic hub which will attract young people from regions with a population of about 2 billion people.
“ Our goal is to help scientific organizations develop and create innovations that are useful for the country," the minister stressed.
Maria Shipuleva spoke about the company's long-term participation in the development of the healthcare system and science in Kazakhstan.
“AstraZeneca is an international biopharmaceutical company. We develop innovative drugs for the treatment of oncological, cardiovascular, autoimmune, respiratory, rare and other diseases. Our company is among the top 5 pharmaceutical companies investing in science and research," she said.
The company actively invests in the localization of production and the development of human resources, introducing innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment.
According to Shipuleva, Kazakhstan is an important region for the company's presence in Central Asia, and today more than 220 AstraZeneca specialists work in the country in 19 cities.
Sayasat Nurbek also spoke about the branches of leading foreign universities in Kazakhstan in the fields of biotechnology, engineering and medicine, including the introduction of advanced medical technologies based on artificial intelligence. During the meeting, it was proposed to develop joint educational programs that open up prospects in the country's leading educational institutions and train personnel with the company.
Zhalgas Daniyarov added that cooperation with the ministry will make it possible to create and develop educational and scientific projects aimed at improving the competencies of future specialists.
At the end of the meeting, the parties noted that cooperation between AstraZeneca and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education will create new opportunities for the development of the healthcare system and the scientific potential of the country.
