A delegation of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan took part in the international conference "2024 – The Year of Global Elections: Reaffirming Democratic Spaces", held in New Delhi. The event was organized by the Election Commission of India and the World Association of Electoral Bodies (A-WEB),El.kz reports citing the press service of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference brought together more than 60 delegations from different countries, including representatives of electoral bodies, international organizations and experts, who discussed key electoral trends, challenges and achievements.
At the first session dedicated to the results of 2024, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov made a presentation on "Electoral Trends in 2024: the Kazakh Case". In his speech, he noted a number of important measures and reforms implemented in Kazakhstan:
The 2024 referendum demonstrated the principles of democracy, strengthening the participation of citizens in key decision-making.
The election of rural and district akims has become a new stage in the development of local self-government and the strengthening of political reforms.
International cooperation continues to develop actively, confirming the role of Kazakhstan as an important participant in the global electoral process.
Abdirov stressed that these reforms contribute to the strengthening of democratic institutions, as well as increase citizens' confidence in the electoral system.
This is of key importance for the stable and sustainable development of the country.
In addition, the CEC Chairman noted the expansion of the geography of Kazakhstan's international cooperation.
According to him, 2024 has become a unique opportunity to exchange experience, study advanced electoral technologies and interact with colleagues from other countries.
Particular attention at the conference was paid to the future of elections and global challenges related to the digitalization of the electoral process. Among the issues discussed is the use of artificial intelligence for data analysis and forecasting in unconditional compliance with ethical standards.
Thus, during the meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar the parties emphasized the high productivity of the existing interaction and expressed their readiness to further deepen the partnership in the field of improving electoral procedures and exchanging approaches and practices.
