Kazakh delegation takes part in 76th session of WHA

Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat as the head of the Kazakh delegation takes part in the 76th session of the World Health Assembly held in Geneva, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The minister took part in the High-Level Plenary Session with the participation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the Heads of State of the Swiss Confederation, Mozambique, Colombia, East Timor, Comoros, the Prime Ministers of India, Slovakia, Morocco to exchange views on the further development of health systems.

"Kazakhstan thanks WHO for its support in the development of primary health care, maternal and child health, immunization, surveillance, measles elimination, prevention of tuberculosis, HIV, AIDS and mental health. I would like to express my special gratitude to our key partners Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, Margaret Chan, Zsuzsanna Jakab, Hans Kluge, Melitta Vujnovic, Juan Tello and Melitta Jakab for their contribution to the development of Kazakhstan's health care system," she said.

Also the Kazakh minister noted that for UHC, we recognize the importance of PHC and rural health by increasing funding for PHC services to 60% of total health expenditure by 2025.

At the end of the speech, the head of the Kazakh Ministry of Health announced the holding of the Global Conference on PHC in October 2023 in Astana, dedicated  to the 45th anniversary of the adoption of the Alma-Ata Declaration and the 5th anniversary of the adoption of the Astana Declaration on PHC, and the 73rd session of the Regional Committee for Europe.

Also during the first day, the ministers of Health of the Central Asian countries held a meeting with the participation of the WHO Regional Director for Europe H. Kluge to discuss the implementation of the Roadmap in support of health and well-being in Central Asia until 2025.

After the opening ceremony of the WHA and the plenary session, meetings were held with the Minister of Health and Social Affairs of Sweden A. Johansen and the head of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan A.Sh. Inoyatov, during which discussions were held on issues of bilateral cooperation.

Azhar Giniyat noted the country's success in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in terms of reducing maternal and child mortality. The head of the department noted the efforts aimed at the prevention of non-communicable diseases, road accidents
