Kassym-Jomart Tokayev meets with President of Turkmenistan

The Kazakh President held talks with Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the VI Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, El.kz reports citing Akorda.

The Head of State thanked the President of Turkmenistan for participating in the Summit, and also noted the importance of his visit in terms of further promotion of multifaceted partnership between the countries.

“Kazakh-Turkmen relations are developing successfully and fully correspond to the level of strategic partnership. The governments plan to increase the volume of mutual trade to $1 billion. A number of projects in the fields of energy, industry, transport, logistics and other areas are at the implementation stage. Favorable conditions are being created for mutual cultural and humanitarian exchange," the Head of our State emphasized.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome and emphasized the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation. He invited the Kazakh President to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan this autumn and take part in the international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Turkmen poet.

- Turkmenistan pays great attention to cooperation with Kazakhstan. An active political dialogue has been established between our countries, and ties are developing in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

During the meeting, the heads of state discussed the prospects for the development of Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation in trade, economic, energy, oil and gas, transport and logistics spheres. Special attention was paid to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties.
