President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko,El.kz reports with reference to Akorda.
The meeting discussed the topical issues of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the importance of the meeting for strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia. The President noted that Vladimir Putin's visit to Astana gave a new impetus to the development of allied relations between the two states.
In her turn, Valentina Matvienko conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Our cooperation is mutually beneficial and mutually respectful. Kazakhstan and Russia demonstrate a strong strategic partnership in such areas as trade, investment, industry, energy and agriculture," she said.
