Karaganda region attracts 854.3 bln tenge of investments in 2023

Last year, investments in the Karaganda region exceeded 854 bln tenge, and for 2024 the plan was increased by at least 1.5%, El.kz reports.

The general forecast for the current year provides for economic growth in the region by 2.5%. The results of the socio-economic development of the region for 2023 and the planned tasks for this year were told at a staff meeting.

Last year, the volume of industry amounted to 3.5 trln tenge, with 854.3 bln tenge of investments, which is 12.2% higher than in 2022. The volume of construction work increased by almost 39%, while 422.7 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned, said the head of the Department of Economics Tatyana Ablayeva.

There was also an increase in the volume of domestic trade in the transport sector.

Head of the Department of Industry and Industrial and Innovative Development Daryn Bulkaiyr stressed that in 2024 it is planned to develop the manufacturing industry with an increase in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, mechanical engineering and the construction industry. Investments are planned at the level of 910 bln tenge, with an increase of 1.5%. The task includes the implementation of ten investment projects.

The key point is to maintain the pace of housing construction. To ensure new construction, the heat capacity in the regional center continues to grow with the completion of the construction of the third heat pipeline this year, as noted by the akim of Karaganda Meiram Kozhukhov.

"It is important to continue efforts to diversify the economy. One of the main tasks remains the attraction of investments and the implementation of investment projects. Thus, we create new jobs and provide employment for our citizens," said Akim of the region Yermaganbet Bulekpayev.
