Astana is hosting the KGIR-2023 International Investment Round Table, which brought together over 1000 delegates from all over the world. This key event is focused on discussing the investment prospects and sustainable growth of the Central Asian region, El.kz reports.

According to the latest UNCTAD report, despite a global decline of 12% in foreign direct investment in 2022, Central Asia showed a significant increase in net FDI of 39%, reaching $10 billion, with 61% of this increase coming from Kazakhstan. This fact underlines the growing interest of international investors in the region, especially in the field of manufacturing enterprises.

The main topics of discussion at KGIR-2023 include investments in advanced technologies, the development of regional clusters, the expansion of transport and logistics potential, and the strengthening of food security. Particular attention is paid to the role of regional clusters as an important tool for economic growth, contributing to innovation, regional sustainability and GDP growth.

Kazakhstan, relying on the creation of clusters with a high share of processing and the maximum use of its own resources, strives for economic self-sufficiency and diversification of the economy. Global challenges such as water scarcity, climate change and rising metal consumption, as well as issues related to Kazakhstan's transit potential and its impact on the country's GDP growth were also important topics for discussion.

KGIR-2023 will be a platform for the exchange of ideas and strategies aimed at attracting investment and supporting sustainable regional development in Central Asia.
