Head of State visits Center for Radiation Therapy and Diagnostics in Ust-Kamenogorsk

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during a working trip to the East Kazakhstan region, visited the work of the Center for Radiation Therapy and Diagnostics, which is located on the basis of the regional multidisciplinary Center for Oncology and Surgery, El.kz reports.

During the visit, the President was demonstrated the functioning of modern medical equipment, including the latest generation MRI, the Elekta Versa HD linear accelerator and the Discovery RT computed tomography scanner. These devices contribute to the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of cancer. The center is also equipped with a PACS system for archiving radiological images, providing easy access and fast real-time data retrieval.

Gulmira Sagidullina, Director of the Multidisciplinary Center of Oncology and Surgery, said that the institution annually carry out over 3,000 surgical operations, 60% of which using minimally invasive methods. Considerable attention is paid to the qualification of medical personnel, including training abroad, and master classes are regularly organized with the participation of both local and foreign specialists.

The President was reported on the current state of the oncological service in the region. The report notes an increase in early detection rates of cancer and a decrease in late-stage cancers. A decrease in cancer mortality has also been recorded.

 Tokayev met with the doctors of the Center and wished them success in their hard work. He stressed the importance of creating such modern medical institutions for the country.

- A very good medical institution, high-quality equipment has been supplied. People need to be treated. Such hospitals are of national importance, since, unfortunately, oncology is in second place after cardiovascular diseases," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
