France invested about $18.7 bln in Kazakhstan's economy - Tokayev

The Head of State held talks with the President of France in an expanded format, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

During the conversation, the Kazakh leader stressed that the first visit of the French leader to Astana will give a powerful impetus to the development of bilateral relations and bring multifaceted cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

“France is an important and reliable partner of Kazakhstan in Europe. Last year, the commodity turnover grew by 30% and reached $4 bln. The volume of bilateral trade for the past eight months of this year increased by 21% compared to the last year, and reached the $2.7 bln”, the President said.

Earlier France has invested about $18.7 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan . The joint projects are being implemented in the energy, construction, aerospace, pharmaceutical, mining and chemical industries, and mechanical engineering.

The Kazakh Head of State emphasized the personal contribution of the President of France to the development of mutually beneficial relations and confirmed Kazakhstan's readiness to further strengthen cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.

During the talks, the parties also identified priority areas for further cooperation, including green energy, logistics, transit, agriculture, healthcare, digitalization and education.

In his speech, President Tokayev paid special attention to the development of cultural ties, stating the need to promote French culture and language in Kazakhstan.
