European Commission positively assesses level of flight safety in Kazakhstan

On October 20, 2022, in Brussels (Belgium), the Kazakh delegation headed by the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastaev, with the participation of the Director General of jsc "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan" (hereinafter - AAC) Catalina Radu and representatives of the AAC held a technical meeting with the European Commission, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and representatives of the Member States of the European Union. The European delegation was headed by the Deputy Head of the Flight Safety Department of the European Commission Peter Sorensen, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the department.

During the meeting, the Kazakh side informed about the measures taken and the corrective action plans being implemented in terms of flight operation, airworthiness, licensing of aircraft personnel and standardization of AAC processes to improve the level of flight safety in Kazakhstan.

In particular, the expected changes to the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of introducing a new approach to financing the AAC and the further systematic transition to the European model of regulation of the civil aviation industry in Kazakhstan were presented. The European side positively perceived the measures taken by the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the measures being implemented.

 

Also, the European Commission positively assessed the progress made in the areas of airworthiness, flight operation, licensing of aircraft personnel, flight safety management, standardization of AAC processes and the updated structure of the organization and called for further work in this direction. The European side expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive support in these matters.

Based on the progress presented by the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan, representatives of the European Commission confirmed that to date, Kazakhstani airlines have no threats to be included in the flight safety list ("black list") of the European Commission and any restrictions on flights to Europe.
