Engagement with Kazakhstan Discussed at Meeting with PIARC World Road Association in Paris

Permanent Delegate of Kazakhstan to International Organizations in Paris Askar Abdrakhmanov met with President of the PIARC World Road Association Nazir Alli and its Secretary General Patrick Mallejac, El.kz cites MFA.

Chair of Kazakhstan’s PIARC National Committee Berik Kamaliev, also attended the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the kick-off meetings for the technical committees of PIARC.

The parties noted the active bilateral engagement since Kazakhstan officially joined PIARC in 2022. In particular, last year two visits of PIARC leadership to Kazakhstan took place, which included substantial negotiations in the Government of Kazakhstan and participation in the KazTraffic international exhibition. In addition, a high-level delegation of Kazakhstan headed by the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev participated in the XXVII World Road Congress in Prague, during which an agreement was signed in recognition of the status of the National Committee of PIARC in Kazakhstan.

The PIARC leadership welcomed the first participation in the work of its technical committees of a solid group of Kazakh road specialists and noted the country’s significant potential in the development of international transport corridors.

PIARC is a reputable international platform for the interaction of experts and exchange of experience in the field of roads and road freight transportation. The association was founded in 1909 in Paris, where its General Secretariat is located. Membership provides Kazakh road specialists with access to up-to-date technical developments and industry documentation related to roads, engineering structures, and traffic, which are developed by leading international experts, as well as with opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the professional discussion and decision-making on the industry’s pressing issues at the global and regional levels.
