Deputy PM holds IMF mission head meeting

Deputy Prime minister – Minister of National Economy. Serik Zhumangarin held a meeting with IMF mission head  in Kazakhstan Ali Al Eid, El.kz reports.

Congratulating the IMF representative on his appointment on January 28, 2025, Serik Zhumangarin stressed that Kazakhstan highly appreciates the Fund's expert opinion, recommendations and analytical support, which help to form an effective economic policy.

"Kazakhstan has been cooperating with the Fund for more than 30 years, receiving its invaluable support. Our long-term partnership with the IMF is extremely important for ensuring economic stability and high-quality sustainable growth of the economy of Kazakhstan," Zhumangarin said.

The sides discussed the positive results of joint projects aimed at carrying out structural reforms, developing fiscal policy and strengthening the country's financial market. Particular attention was paid to the contribution of the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (CCAMTAC), which has been operating in Almaty since 2021 and promotes regional cooperation.

Also during the meeting, Kazakhstan's plans to finance the real sector of the economy, implement fiscal reform and further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund were considered.
