CSTO summit in Astana to strengthen regional security and stability - Tokayev

Russia’s Izvestia newspaper published an article by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev,El.kz reports.

In an article, the Head of State noted that Russian-Kazakh interaction is developing successfully.

As the President mentioned, the positions of Kazakhstan and Russia are consonant on many issues of the global and regional agenda and actively cooperate within international organizations and integration alliances (CIS, CSTO, SCO, OSCE, CICA and others).

In July of this year, the SCO summit was held in Astana. During the summit, SCO member states endorsed the Initiative On World Unity for a Just Peace, Harmony and Development. The document emphasizes that the SCO creating conditions for stronger universal peace, security and stability.

A landmark event of the outgoing year was the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Moscow.

This year, Kazakhstan chairs the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The upcoming summit in Astana will be an important event in strengthening regional security and stability.

Our country is aimed at comprehensive support for joint efforts aimed at peacefully ensuring collective security and maintaining friendly ties between the member states, the Head of State emphasized.
