Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov stressed the importance of creating a safe road infrastructure to reduce road accidents,El.kz reports.

"International practice has proven its direct impact on the accident rate. At the same time, today only 3% of republican roads meet safety requirements. On such roads, after reconstruction, the mortality rate has decreased significantly," the minister said.

Sadenov drew attention to the critical situation on suburban roads, where most serious accidents occur due to the poor condition of the roads. Since the beginning of the year, over 24 thousand instructions have been issued to improve road safety.

The minister stressed the need for the construction of over 6 thousand km of roads with four or more lanes to improve safety.

Digital solutions are being introduced to strengthen control on the roads. Over 24 thousand automatic cameras for fixing traffic violations have been installed in the cities. Patrol cars are also equipped with fixation systems, and the issue of installing such systems on shuttle buses and ambulances is also being worked out.

In response to the growing problem of transport violations, Minister Yerzhan Sadenov announced new measures:

"It is planned to tighten the punishment for drivers who exceed the speed limit. The corresponding bill has been submitted to the Senate," the minister said.
