The Asian Boxing Championship among boys and youth has started in Astana, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The opening ceremony of the Asian Championship was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev, the Secretary General of ASBC - Ali Salame, the President of IBA - Umar Kremlev and the President of the KSE - Kenes Rakishev.
"Boxing, as one of the most popular and spectacular disciplines, has a special place in the hearts of many people and attracts the attention of millions of viewers.
The Kazakh boxing school occupies an honorable place in the world sports arena and has a leading position. For example, over the years of independence, domestic boxers have won 7 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze Olympic medals," Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev said.
It should be noted that about 500 young athletes from 23 countries will compete for the title of Asian champion in the continental championship. The fights will be held according to the Olympic system.
Winners and runners-up will be determined on November 2-3.
