The Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault Qualifications West and Central Asia will be held in Almaty in August this year, El.kz reports with reference to the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.

The 16 strongest players of Central and West Asia under 17 will take part in the fight for a ticket to the 2025 French Open Junior Championships.

The Asian Tennis Federation and the French Tennis Federation signed a memorandum on the development of clay tennis in Asia, as well as on holding a series of tournaments to determine the best players with the provision of wild cards of the  Roland Garros 2025 and beyond.

"The event, which will be held in Almaty, will host 16 of the best players from Central and West Asia, who will compete to qualify for the final tournament. This is as useful as possible for players.  Firstly, there is a round-robin format and a "knockout" format so that each player gets a sufficient number of matches. Secondly, for each match won, ATF Round Points under 16 will be awarded.

There will also be grants for the best players who will show a good performance during the tournament. Kazakhstan has repeatedly proved that it is one of the leading countries in Asia, so we are especially pleased that such a historical platform as the courts in Gorky Tennis Park, where the development of all tennis in Kazakhstan began, will host this first-ever event for the selection of the best players for Juniors Roland Garros," Yuriy Polskiy, President of the Asian Tennis Federation said.
