Ex-Interior Minister of Kazakhstan Marat Akhmetzhanov is appointed as the Governor of Akmola region, El.kz reports.
Born in 1964 in Dzhezkazgan region is a graduate of the Karaganda State University.
Between 2009 and 2012 headed the legal statistics and special records committee of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan. In 2012-2014 served as the deputy chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Fighting Economic and Corruption Crimes. In 2016-2021 held the post of the deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan. In 2021-2022 headed the Kazakh Anti-Corruption Agency.
In 2022 took the post of the Interior Minister of Kazakhstan.
