Since the beginning of December this year in the regions of Kazakhstan held more than 250 agricultural fairs, which were visited by about one million citizens, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
Such data was announced at a meeting on stabilisation of prices for basic foodstuffs chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin. As First Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Aizhan Bizhanova noted, the fairs have shown high demand among the population, brought volumes of products are almost completely bought up.
‘Most of all potatoes sold in Karaganda region - 110 tonnes, in Almaty - 90 tonnes, in Shymkent sold 45 tonnes of potatoes on holiday weekend," First Deputy Minister noted.
In parallel with the fairs, the markets of the regions receive vegetables from stab funds. As Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly announced, as of December 19, 9.2 thousand tonnes of potatoes, 2.6 thousand tonnes of carrots, 2.8 thousand tonnes of onions and 2.1 thousand tonnes of cabbage have been sold from stab funds. The meeting also presented a schedule of vegetable distribution until May this year, taking into account the needs of each region.
According to the results of the last week, the average index of price growth for social food products was 0.1%, since the beginning of the year - 1.1%.
At the end of the meeting Serik Zhumangarin instructed not to reduce the activity of fairs and to strengthen control over compliance with trade legislation to prevent unjustified price increases in the run-up to the New Year holidays.
