4 mln tenge fine introduced for illegal lottery in social networks in Kazakhstan

For the first time in Kazakhstan, work has begun to combat illegal lotteries in social networks. According to the law, the exclusive right to conduct lotteries belongs to the lottery operator and its agents. For the organization of an illegal lottery, administrative liability is provided - fines of 4 million tenge,  El.kz reports with reference to the CCS.

"To date, 16 citizens have been brought to administrative responsibility in the form of fines. 30 protocols on offenses have been sent for consideration by the court, materials are being collected on another 35 facts to bring to justice for illegal pranks in social networks," Miras Tulebayev,  vice minister of sport and tourism of Kazakhstan said at a press conference in the CCS.

The Ministry is working to identify the organizers of online casinos and illegal betting sites. To date, 3 organizers of 15 such resources have been identified, including local financial institutions that provided them with payment and acquiring services.

"Materials on them have already been sent to the departments of economic investigations of the city of Almaty and other regions," the speaker added.

It is important to note that according to the Comprehensive Plan to Combat Gambling Addiction until 2026, the number of active customers of bookmakers and casinos is planned to be reduced by 42%. In addition, it is planned to increase the coverage of gambling addicts undergoing free rehabilitation to 500 people.

"The first section is aimed at citizens who have never gambled. The second section is aimed at identifying and working with a risk group. The third block provides assistance to established gambling addicts," the speaker said at a press conference in the CCS.
