From April 1 to May 23, 2025, an international study is taking place in Kazakhstan, El.kz reports citing the Kazakh Ministry of Enlightenment.
About 24 thousand schoolchildren from 643 educational organizations across the country will take part in a large-scale assessment of educational achievements.
PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) is held every four years under the auspices of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). It allows you to assess the extent to which students are able to use the acquired knowledge in mathematics, reading and natural sciences to solve life problems, and not just reproduce educational material.
The study takes place in the format of computer testing and focused on natural science literacy, as well as the topic of "Learning in the Digital World", which reflects modern challenges and the need to adapt educational systems to the conditions of digitalization.
According to the results of the previous round of the study - PISA-2022 - Kazakhstan entered the TOP-50 countries in terms of results in the field of mathematics and natural science. A positive reduction in the gap between the quality of education in urban and rural schools was also noted.
The results of PISA-2025 will be an important benchmark for the further development of the Kazakhstani education system, including in terms of digital literacy and preparing students for real life situations.
