Kazakhstan has created a national Large Language Model KazLLM designed to develop artificial intelligence in the Kazakh language, El.kz reports citing the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The project was developed as part of the instructions of the President of the country with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as well as leading scientific institutes and universities. The main goal of KazLLM is to integrate the Kazakh language into modern technologies, create intelligent solutions for processing, translating and analyzing texts.
More than 140 scientists and employees of 26 scientific institutes and universities took part in the work on the project. They have prepared a corpus of data in 115 scientific areas, including economics, mathematics, history, biology, medicine, technology and other industries.
Thus, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University contributed to the sections of philosophy, ethics, PR and astronomy, the Institute of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling prepared content on mathematical disciplines, and the Sh. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology - in historical sciences. In addition, medical universities have provided data on medicine.
The cooperation of the scientific community made it possible to create unique content in the Kazakh language, which will ensure the qualitative development of the language model.
Similar to Google Translate, KazLLM will be an important step in the development of Kazakhstan's digital infrastructure, contributing to the expansion of the use of the Kazakh language in the field of AI.
