The first Republican Library Hackathon was held in Almaty, timed to coincide with the Book Day. The event brought together young librarians from all regions of Kazakhstan, who presented projects on digitalization, improving the reading experience and introducing new service formats, El.kz reports citing Almaty Mayor's Office.

According to the organizers, the hackathon participants presented initiatives aimed at modernizing libraries and expanding their functions as public cultural centers.

Particular attention was drawn to the ideas of librarians from Almaty, who have completed foreign internships in South Korea, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Switzerland and Sweden. They shared their experience in implementing international practices and proposed ways to adapt them to the Kazakh context.

"The first hackathon showed that a modern library is not just a place to read, but a center of knowledge, ideas and communication," the organizers of the event noted.
