В этой статье хотим уделить внимание эвфемизмам, которые были обнаружены в современной англоязычной прессе в ходе исследования. Начнем с эвфемизмов, обозначающих расовую принадлежность и цвет кожи. Мы обнаружили две основные эвфемистические лексемы. Первая из них – nonwhite. Например:
In 2000, House Republicans represented 59 percent of all white Americans and 40 percent of all nonwhite Americans.

With George Zimmerman called «white Hispanic,» Tiger Woods self-identifying as «Cablinasian,» and even the blondest and bluest-eyed wanting to tell you about their cousin nine-times-removed who is Cherokee, many think the lines of what it means to be white and non-white are suddenly blurry.

Even illegals – or more politically correctly, the undocumented seekers of a better life – receive healthcare.
Undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and succeeded academically rejoice.
They also called for expanding gender-neutral housing and bathrooms on campus, improving the financial aid process for middle class students and training all staff and faculty to help undocumented immigrants plan their academic and professional futures.
First, let us consider the case for supposed downsides of undocumented immigration.
Those decrying amnesty for undocumented immigrants are not inclined to cry too much when their child gets off with community service for that DUI or public intoxication or when their college drug dalliances gets expunged.

То же можно сказать и о профессии undertaker, которая в целях политкорректности иногда заменяется на funeral director. В анализируемой нами прессе политкорректный термин хоть и был обнаружен, но встречается реже, чем прежнее именование профессии:

Словарь Merriam-Webster Dictionary определяет handicapped как «having a physical or mental disability», при этом стоит пометка «sometimes offensive». Именно по этой причине в последнее время эта лексическая единица все реже и реже используется и заменяется политкорректными синонимами.
Наиболее распространенный из них – disabled, который в словаре определяется как «having a physical or mental disability : unable to perform one or more natural activities (such as walking or seeing) because of illness, injury, etc.» без каких-либо пометок. Мы обнаружили значительное количество случаев использования disabled в англоязычной прессе. Например:
This year, the current Minister, Hon. Derrick Kellier, spoke similarly in the Jamaican media saying the National Disability Act has been moving at its current pace because they «have been canvassing employers to ensure that the disabled can find jobs».
